The Interlake Steamship Company is offering a trip aboard a working Great Lakes Freighter. Trips onboard a working freighter are only available to the shipping companies customers. Before this Auction, the only way for the general public to take a cruise on a working Great Lakes freighter was to take a chance in a raffle drawing. For a short time you can place a bid for a trip to take place during the 2005 OR 2006 (your choice) sailing season between the months of June and September on your choice of the classic steamer Lee. A. Tregurtha or the Queen of the Lakes Paul R. Tregurtha. If you are the highest bidder, you and three friends will cruise on a four to six day voyage aboard your choice of freighters. While onboard you will rest comfortably in private staterooms and view the scenery from the guest lounge. Proceeds from the Auction go to benefit the Rocky Hill School, Rhode Island. Departure port and dates will be coordinated with the highest bidder. To purchase a ticket aboard a Great Lakes cruise ship like the C. Columbus, you can pay over $4,000 per person. This trip on is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to guarantee you will be cruising on a working freighter in the summer of 2005 or 2006. Winner must be flexible concerning scheduling and port of departure/return. Guests are required to adhere to all company polices and safety procedures. |
Not only is it unusual to to have a choice of freighters, but trips on the Paul R. Tregurtha are rare as her passenger quarters are typically reserved for corporate guests. |
