ANOTHER CHANCE AT A FREIGHTER CRUISE!

THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPMASTER'S ASSOCIATION, GEORGIAN BAY HURONIA LODGE 15 has donated a seven day trip for two on the SS Saginaw. Proceeds go to support the Owen Sound Marine & Rail Museum. Trips onboard working freighters are only available to the Shipping Company’s customers. Before this Auction, the only way for the general public to take a cruise on a working Great Lakes freighter was to take a chance in a raffle drawing. For a short time you can place a bid for a trip to take place during the 2007 sailing season between the months of June and September 2007.

If you are the highest bidder, you and a guest will rest comfortably in a private stateroom and view the scenery from the guest lounge.

To purchase a ticket aboard a Great Lakes cruise ship like this you can pay over $4,000 per person. This trip is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to guarantee you will be cruising on a working freighter in the summer of 2007.

Winner must be flexible concerning scheduling and port of departure/return. Guests are required to adhere to all company polices and safety procedures. If you are the highest bidder, you and a guest will have full access to the ship's bridge, and arrangements can be made with the Captain and Chief engineer for a tour of the Engine room. Winners will be lodged in a private stateroom, and will dine with the Captain and officers.

Winners will get a first hand view of what it is like to be aboard a real working ship, and will get the opportunity to see the ship docking & see other ships on the Great lakes and rivers that will be transited.

Winners will have to pay for their own transportation to & from the ship, but the company will assist them with directions on how to join the ship, and which port it will be at. Due to the nature of Great Lakes Shipping, it is possible that the port of embarkation will differ from the port of disembarkation.
